Seasonal Changeover

Winter tires on, summer tires off — or the reverse. Book ahead during peak season and skip the wait. We handle inspection, mounting, balancing, and torque.

When Should You Switch?

Timing matters. Switch too early or too late, and you're compromising safety.

Winter Tires On

When temps drop below 7°C

Winter rubber compounds harden below 7°C, losing grip. Once overnight temps consistently hit 7°C, it's time.

Winter Tires Off

When temps stay above 7°C

Winter tires wear faster on warm pavement. Once overnight temps stay above 7°C, switch back to summer or all-season.

The Seasonal Tire Calendar

Here's what most drivers in Durham Region follow.

October – November

Winter Tire Installation (Busiest)

Book early. This is our busiest season — we recommend booking 1–2 weeks in advance. Once the first snow hits, slots fill fast.

December – February

Winter Tire Season

Keep winter tires on. Check pressure monthly (cold weather reduces pressure). Watch for tread wear and any damage.

March – April

Summer/All-Season Swap (Busy)

Wait until overnight temps stay above 7°C consistently. Book ahead — this is our second busiest season.

May – September

Summer Tire Season

Best time for tire rotations, alignments, and new tire purchases. Less busy than peak seasons.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

A few simple things save time when you arrive.

Clean Your Tires

Dirt and grime make inspection harder. A quick rinse before arriving helps us spot issues faster.

Bring Your Wheel Lock Key

If your wheels have locking lug nuts, bring the key. Without it, we can't remove the wheels.

Label Your Tires (If Storing)

If you're storing your off-season tires, mark them (e.g., "Front Left"). It helps next season.

Check Storage Bag Condition

If using tire bags, check for rips. We can supply new bags if needed.

Tire Storage

Don't have space to store your off-season tires? We can help.

Why Proper Storage Matters

Tires stored incorrectly can develop flat spots, crack, or degrade. Rubber needs to be kept away from UV light, extreme temperatures, and moisture.

What We Offer

We store your off-season tires in a climate-controlled facility, cleaned and bagged, so they're ready to install when the season changes.

Ask about storage pricing when you book your changeover.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a changeover take?

Most changeovers take 30–45 minutes. During peak seasons (Oct–Nov, Mar–Apr), allow extra time.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome, but during peak seasons we strongly recommend booking online to avoid long waits.

Do you store seasonal tires?

Yes — we offer climate-controlled seasonal tire storage. Ask about pricing when you book.

Do you install tires on rims or off rims?

Both. If your tires are already on rims (most common), it's a simple bolt-on swap. If they're off rims, we mount and balance them fresh.

Can I switch to all-season tires instead of winter?

Yes. All-season tires work year-round but offer less grip in snow and ice. Winter tires are recommended for Ontario winters.

Should I balance my tires during a changeover?

Yes — balancing during changeover is good practice. Learn about wheel balancing.
